The Retreat

A home in the woods, set up for dogs.

Your dog stays in Bailie's home, not a kennel. There are two acres of wooded trails, several creeks nearby, and a cozy spot to curl up in at night. Some pups want adventure; others would rather nap. Both are welcome.

Bailie smiling on a stone porch surrounded by greenery and white hydrangeas

Your host

Hi, I'm Bailie.

I've been caring for dogs for 28 years: every breed, age, size, and temperament. To me, great boarding is about much more than a place to stay.

I handle every booking and care for every guest myself. Your dog's routine, energy, and personality guide everything I do. There's plenty of room here, so dogs can play together or relax in a quiet space of their own.

Every dog is welcome, and anxious dogs are my specialty. I'm also comfortable giving oral and injectable medications.

My goal is simple: a dog who feels safe, comfortable, and loved, and who can't wait to come back.

Honorary Camp Counselors.

An honor earned, not just a visit count. Counselors have stayed with us at least 15 times and, time after time, have been friendly with dogs, cats and kids, and all-around well-behaved. Reaching 15 visits doesn't guarantee a spot. Each counselor is chosen by Bailie.

Honorary Camp Counselor · Inducted 2026

Angel

Blue heeler · With us since February 2024

Angel is one of the most helpful little buddies who has ever stayed with us. She follows me around camp like she has a job to do, greets every guest with the same gentle, steady temperament, and settles in like she has always lived here.

She came into our lives when I was grieving my own blue heeler, Vivienne Rhea, and she helped me through it more than she will ever know. We adore her.

★ Our very first Honorary Camp Counselor

Future counselors will join Angel here, one well-earned spot at a time.

House Notes

Before you arrive.

Everything you need to know for a smooth first stay. Still have a question? Just text me.

Meet & greet
Every new family is welcome to meet me before the first stay, and it's always free.

Virtual meet & greets are available any time. Just ask, and we'll set up a video call so you can see the home, meet me, and ask anything you like. A full virtual tour is on the way.

In-person visits pause for fall and winter and resume April 1. These are our busiest months, and Tennessee's rainy season leaves the trails too muddy for a proper visit. We look forward to welcoming you in person come spring.
Our household
The retreat is a non-smoking family home with young children and two cats, Naomi and BC. Dogs are welcome on the furniture but not on the beds. Dogs of every size are welcome; we can't board females in heat.
Health & vaccines
Every guest must be fully up to date on all vaccinations and on flea and tick prevention. Please bring your vaccination records to the first stay.

Who stays here
Every dog is welcome, from puppies to seniors and every size in between. Anxious and nervous dogs are a specialty: I take the time to learn what helps them settle, and many of them relax faster than their families expect.
Arrival & pick-up
Drop-off and pick-up happen here at the retreat in Kingston Springs, by appointment within these hours:
Spring & summer
7:30 am – 8:00 pm
Fall & winter
7:30 am – 6:30 pm
It gets very dark out here in fall and winter, and visibility at the road is limited, so we keep exchanges to daylight hours whenever possible. I can sometimes make an exception, but I can't promise one.

Running late? If a delayed flight or anything else out of your control keeps you past pick-up hours, simply collect your pup the next morning. The extra night is on us. Delays happen, and we never penalize you for them.
Emergencies
If your dog needs medical care, I'll contact you right away and take them to their own veterinarian. If your vet's office is closed, I'll take them to the nearest emergency animal hospital. Please include your vet's name and phone number when you book. The retreat also carries business insurance.
Changes & cancellations
Plans change, and we understand. Cancel by 12:00 pm, 7 days before arrival, for a full refund (14 days before arrival for holiday stays). After that, 50% is refunded for the first 7 nights of the stay, and any later nights are non-refundable. Cancellations within 48 hours of arrival, and no-shows, are non-refundable.

Weather and natural disasters: if your trip is canceled because of a hurricane or another unavoidable natural disaster, you'll receive a full refund, no matter when you cancel.
